Eligibility

We recruit elementary and middle school music students in Evanston who qualify for free or reduced lunch, and we allow them to develop their talents within our program throughout middle and high school.

Lessons

• Each student is assigned to a private instructor, who teaches their student a weekly 45 minute lesson.
• Private lessons are the core of the learning experience for string students.
• The instructor takes the student through the fundamentals of technique, explores musicality, and guides the student through a progressive and challenging sequence of repertoire.
• The relationship built between teacher and student can create a rewarding life-long bond.

Group Class

At the end of the day's lessons, all of the students in the program come together for a half-hour long group class. Group classes are used for a variety of education purposes, including masterclasses and recitals, as well as to teach various topics in music such as ear training, music history, and music theory.
